Welcome to Troop 272!
Founded in 1953, Troop 272 has been a proud part of the Rose Valley, PA community and its neighbors for over six decades. We're chartered by the Rose Valley Folk, and they graciously provide us with the historic Old Mill for our weekly Troop and Patrol Leader Council meetings, most Wednesday evenings throughout the school year. In return, we give back through various service projects, such as participating in PennDOT's Adopt-A-Highway program—picking up trash along Rose Valley Road four times a year.
Each December, Troop 272 becomes the go-to place for fresh Christmas trees at the corner of Brookhaven and Rose Valley Roads. This popular fundraiser helps fund our year-round activities, from camping trips to community service projects, making it a highlight of our calendar. We're also deeply committed to developing strong, young leaders. Every year, our Scouts participate in leadership training at the Troop, Council, and National levels. Many of our Scouts return as staff members to these programs, sharing their knowledge and skills with the next generation of leaders. We're especially proud of our more than 100 Eagle Scouts, who exemplify the highest ideals of Scouting. But above all, Troop 272 is about FUN! Our Scouts plan an exciting and diverse calendar of events each year. From camping, hiking, and backpacking, to rock climbing, canoeing, skiing, and whitewater rafting, we challenge ourselves with activities that push us to grow and have a blast along the way. We've participated in District Klondikes, Scout Jamborees, and had unforgettable experiences like overnighting on the U.S.S. New Jersey and the U.S.S. Constellation. Our adventures take us to fascinating destinations like the White Mountains in New Hampshire, the Grand Tetons in Wyoming, the Appalachian Trail, Gettysburg, New York City, and many other places of historical and natural significance.
