Community Service

Community service has been a central pillar of Scouting since its very beginning, and is highlighted by the Scout Slogan, “Do a good turn daily.” Every Scout needs to take part in, and even lead, numerous service projects before achieving the rank of Eagle. Our troop regularly participates in Adopt-a-Highway, Scouting for Food, and local parks and watershed clean-ups.

Adopt-A-Highway

Rose Valley Troop 272 maintains a 2 mile section of Rose Valley Road through the Adopt-A-Highway Program and as a service to our chartered organization, the Rose Valley Folk. Scouts must participate in 3 of these service projects a year to fulfill the troop participation requirement.
A permission slip is required.

Scouting for Food

Scouting for Food is one of nation’s largest food drives that Scouts participate in to support their local food pantries and hunger-relief agencies. The Scouts of the Cradle of Liberty Council have continuously exceeded expectations and helped fulfill the need.

Service Projects

Scouts participate in a variety of service projects, such as local steams clean ups, throughout the year. Sometimes these opportunities are available through an Eagle Scout Project—which is a community service project planned, organized, and lead by a Scout as part of the requirements to achieve the Eagle Scout rank.
